The Crievewood
Mission
God, as revealed in both Old and New Testaments and as experienced in
our daily lives, is a creating, sustaining, and relating God. God
calls us to participate in God's activity through a covenant community
whose life is consistent with God's actions. Following God's lead, the
covenant community engages in acts of creativity, faith, love,
reconciliation, and justice.
The covenant call and promise came to fulfillment in the life, death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through Christ and the church, God
continues to call all persons into a covenant relationship. God's Holy
Spirit empowers and demands Crievewood to be an open and all-inclusive
covenant community of transforming love.
We believe the mission of the church as God's covenant community
involves four primary tasks:
1.
Reaching out to all persons in the name of Christ and receiving them
into the covenant community of faith and love.
2.
Relating all persons to God and one another through worship and
caring.
3.
Nurturing one another in faith, love, and learning through Christ.
4.
Sending one another into the community and world to serve God's cause
of fulfilling creation in love and justice.
Crievewood's Mission in Summary
Crievewood United Methodist Church lives as a congregation of believers who
strive to embody the gospel of Jesus Christ by reaching out to others
in love, nurturing one another in the life of the
church, and sending one another in service to all persons with whom we have contact,
principally in the greater Crieve Hall area and in the world through our
connectional affiliation.
